I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos of some of my favorite silver screen bombshells at their sublime curviest. Unfortunately, none of them would meet today's standards of beauty. Today has really lowered it standards

REMEMBER, including my amateur photos, I have 20 YEARS of photos to upload. if knowing is half the battle,..then i'm going in unarmed,..
Not too long ago I saw an article about Marilyn Monroe, if she were in today's society...they gave her picture to a group of plastic surgeons and let them recommend procedures they'd have done for her. She's one of the classic beauties and they'd STILL do that much work to her...it doesn't leave a lot of hope for the rest of us *shakes head*

I've seen a *lot* of available photos online and she's damned curvy, and no doubt a diva, but starvingly skeenny (as in I can see her rib cage). If you find any of the voluptuous photos that I've heard about, drop a link my way.
It's likely like Marilyn & not many of *those* photos actually get released much anymore; I'll likely have to rent the films.
Cheers & thanks!

So now they look just like everyone else, perfectly mediocre. I swear on every magazine it's a world of bland, shapeless cookie-cutter mannequins. (The Original Twilight Zone's "Number Twelve Looks Just Like You" comes to mind. [link] )
It is SO sad. Diet and fitness industry... same thing. If it worked, they couldn't make money off a person time & time again. Fricking leeches feeding off ladies' souls.
But anyway...
I don't know how much hope I have for the rest of us. I know that natural selection is alive and well & that's why there's such a big pin-up resurgence, and why there's such a big underground demand for curvaceous ladies. (I may guess a lack of curves had also been what spurred men to take up glamour's mantle.) I know from from the length of my career and fan base & from the everyday response I get on the street the reaction hasn't changed from the 40s-50's. The curve is as alive and well as it always was. Whether we'll see it in the media in my time is a whole 'nother issue.
I've had this drive to keep the past alive for the future. Maybe future generations will remember what a woman is *supposed* to look like and liberate themselves from emotionally-induced financial and medical stupidity.
I realized it was all b.s... but not many do & it's so tragic.
Meanwhile... diss Marilyn, will they? They're not fit to kiss her feet... as they are... right now. Idiots don't know a real woman when they're looking right at her.
So. Gah. Thanks for allowing me my soap box. Guess you hit one of my buttons.
You're very welcome for the journal post! I'm always glad to share nostalgia & I'm very glad to hear someone enjoys it!
(OH! Here's a short story you might like... sort-of on my rant: [link] )
Cheers!

She looked great there; I totally see the appeal.
Yeah, you don't see much jiggle anymore, which is a big shame, because that was part of the intoxication. Now it's all solid. You have to go totally retro or amateur for the real thing. There was an episode of the Twilight Zone (a reeeealy good episode, btw [link] ) in which a devastatingly curvaceous blonde (Barbara Nichols) was running around a hospital in a skimpy halter-dress... and it was amazing.
Mickey Rooney: "Wha... What was I saying?"

I haven't ever seen that episode of the Twilight Zone, but I can imagine
I tell you, we two were born in the wrong era! What I wouldn't give to be in the 40's & 50's...such lovely fashion...The only downside would probably be the bras. I have a feeling we'll see a curvaceous revival...it may be a few years in the making though. All the men I've met aren't attracted to the stick thin types, and a greater majority of the women I've met AREN'T stick thin, so I have a feeling something may be coming around - here's to hoping though!
.
I don't mind your rant at all, its one of my buttons too...I just hope I didn't push your buttons in a BAD way (for me)
Oh, and you're completely right, they aren't fit to kiss her feet!!
Take care,
Liz

I completely agree that plastic surgery, as an informed, rational, *choice*, when one is secure with themselves and not making an emotional decision, is cool. I'm not beyond it myself... when I'm aging enough that I could use sprucing up. What does upset me is those that take advantage of perfectly healthy, beautiful *insecure* women. I have personally met a 20-year-old who had already had lipo and botox... BOTOX!
I also love curves. They are a what makes a lady, well, a lady... and to see someone *pay* to throw that away instead of *claiming* it. It depresses me. Not to mention altering their definitive faces. Where are the Carol Burnetts and Lucille Balls? Unique and *memorable*, quirky faces? It's what gives people personality. ...but there I go on a rant again.
And YEAH... FASHION!
I really think the world would be much more lovely now if people took the same pride in themselves.
Anyway, I'm on that "born in the wrong era thing" too. Maybe I'm years ahead of my time of years behind, or I'm on some alternate timeline that diverged in about... 1963 while the world around me kept going forward when the twig came into vogue.
And nah... I don't think you could push my buttons in a bad way. If anything did, it's this world for being so bleedin' stupid.
Cheers!
~Honey
(As an interesting note: the underwire push-up bra was invented for Jane Russell specifically to wear in the film "The Outlaw". Thank her for fantastic cleavage everywhere.
