What is Normal?

Clothes until the past couple of decades were made to measure. I recently went perusing for myself at a vintage shop, which can get tricky because you have to fit by measurement. The *overwhelming* majority of the vintage clothes there from the 1920s-1970s had a 36-40 inch bust, a 26-30 inch waist, and 38-44 inch hips. (Hubba Hubba. ) There were many variances in body-shape, of course, and a few exceptions in inches, smaller and larger. Nowadays, we have blanket "sizes". The "average" size in the United States is 14, but more importantly, measurements are around 41-34-43 for a white female. (webcenters.netscape.compuserve…) No matter how the how media paints it these measurements are very middle-of-the-road, very average, very median, and what's come to be called "Large" isn't "Large" at all, but actually downright Normal. By looking to our past, we can see that only people's *perspectives* have changed.
